Bat Stewardship Continues at Shubie Park!

With the generous help of the Canadian Wildlife Federation’s WILD Outside teens and our rock-star member family, the Woodmans, the Nature Guardians put up two more homes for our batty friends at Shubie Park. We spent the first part of the afternoon finishing our boxes, making sure the bats would have ample footholds to cling to, and finished the day by finding suitable spots in the park where the boxes might attract some furry occupants.

We’ll be monitoring these boxes over the next couple months. Hopefully, with the help of our new Echo II acoustic monitor, we’ll have an idea of when and where our local bats are active and can share that information with friends who conduct bat research in Nova Scotia.
