Halifax Christmas Bird Count 4 Kids – 2019

Date/Time

Sunday, December 15, 2019
9:30 am - 11:30 am

Description

We will once again participate in the longest running citizen science project in the world – the Christmas Bird Count! Lots of eyes are needed to spot all the birds we can in one morning, but no previous experience in bird identification is necessary to help out. We’ll be helped by special guests from the Nova Scotia Bird Society. And at the end, we’ll tally up all of our bird observations, and bird spotters will be rewarded with warm apple cider, treats, and prizes!

Meet at the far end of the lower parking lot (near the container pier) of Point Pleasant Park at 9:30am. We’ll search the woods and waters of the park till 11:15, then reunite at the parking lot to share observations and goodies.

Send a quick email to the YNC Halifax Chapter Coordinator, Karen McKendry, at ynchalifax at yncns dot ca to register.

Remember to dress super duper warm for this field trip. Bring binoculars if you have them, but we’ll also have pairs to lend out.

This event is supported by Bird Studies Canada through their excellent education program. See their webpage for more about the Christmas Bird Count for Kids (=CBC4Kids).
