The Nature Guardians take on Water Quality Science!

Date/Time

Saturday, September 26, 2020
2:00 pm - 5:00 pm

Description

We’re kicking off the 2020-2021 program year with more conservation action! Our first session this fall will take us back to Shubie where we’ll be learning about methods for monitoring water quality in freshwater systems. We’ll experiment with probes for water temperature, oxygen, and nutrient levels, see what we can tell about the system by identifying caught invertebrates, and (hold your breath) we’ll be isolating algae-bloom-causing FECAL bacteria! Gross! and AWESOME!

We’ll meet by the picnic tables in front of the Fairbanks Centre as usual, play a couple games, then head out with our gear.

Remember to bring a water bottle, snack, and to dress for the weather!
