Nature Guardians Program

Nature Guardians is a program just for 10-14 year olds, where no parent or guardian supervision is required on our once-a-month field trip. The Nature Guardians lead hands-on conservation projects in the HRM and, of course, we have fun!

This program takes an open, group-oriented approach where our youth participants help plan what we do each month. Recently, the Nature Guardians planned and implemented a number of stewardship projects at Shubie Park in Dartmouth, including native species plantings, on-going water quality monitoring, and nest box installations. Are your nature nuts interested in real conservation action? New participants are always welcome!

Because parent/guardian supervision is not required, all Nature Guardian trips and events require an RSVP so that we can plan for managing group size safely. Thanks for your planning and understanding!

Check out our Events list for upcoming Nature Guardian sessions. You can join at ANYTIME throughout the year!

New to the YNC? Register online to join our list or reach out to our leader, Becky Parker.

Nature Guardians Chapter Leader - Becky Parker

Becky is our provincial coordinator and a BIG plant nerd! Before joining the YNC she worked as a restoration ecologist, an invasive species researcher, and aquarium educator. She is certified in Wilderness First Aid and when not out with the Nature Guardians can be found stumbling through the woods of Nova Scotia looking for her favourite birds and any exciting new plant listings on iNaturalist.
