Owl & Raven Pellet Dissection with Diversity of Nature

On Family Day weekend, we teamed up with the awesome people at Diversity of Nature to lead a guided owl and raven pellet dissection. Pellets are regurgitated masses of bones, fur, tough plant material, and other hard-to-digest stuff that a bird swallowed! We investigated the differences between owl and raven pellets and found that the owl pellets tended to contain more bones and fur, reflecting their meaty diet, but were surprised by the number of whole mice and other creatures inside the raven pellets! Thank you to our friends at DON and Dalhousie for hosting us, and our keen families for your sharp observations!
