We had 15 children and 8 adults show up for our dead wood walk on May the 18th. It was a cool breezy day that was perfect for keeping the biting insects at bay. The walking soon warmed us up and we viewed many different species of lichen and moss growing on dead wood from tip-ups, snags (standing dead wood) stumps and rocks. Our next meeting will focus on identification of our lichen collection using hand lenses and a field guide.
